His combative and energetic midfield performances have helped propel the south coast club to seventh in the Premier League, with Roberto De Zerbi’s side now just seven points away from the Champions League places.

Brighton have also advanced to the FA Cup semi-finals, where they will face Manchester United at Wembley Stadium on Sunday.

Caicedo was heavily linked with both Arsenal and Chelsea during the January transfer window, but no deal materialized.

Brighton rejected bids from both London clubs for the midfielder, including a £70 million bid from Arsenal.

Caicedo penned an open letter to Brighton in an attempt to force a move, thanking the club but pleading with them to let him go.

Brighton refused to budge and kept Caicedo at the Amex Stadium until he signed a new contract until 2027.

That is why I continue to do well. But it was difficult. Many people made fun of me on Instagram when I didn’t end up going at first.

“I was mistreated by others. I didn’t check my social media because seeing things would hurt me.”

Caicedo responded to speculation about his future by saying, “I just want to have a really good season with Brighton now, to finish off the season well and play really well, and then we’ll see what happens next season.”

Despite Liverpool’s interest, Caicedo appears to be set on a move to Arsenal.

When asked if he wants Arsenal to win the Premier League, he replied, “Of course.” I certainly hope so
