Tottenham Hotspur face Brentford in the Premier League this weekend, looking to rebound from their defeat over Arsenal in the North London Derby last time out
They will be anxious to qualify for the Champions League this season, and winning these games will help them finish in the top four. Brentford is an excellent team, and Tottenham cannot afford to be complacent. They will need to improve their performance in order to win the game.
Former Arsenal star and Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson believes Tottenham will win the game. The popular pundit claimed that if Yoane Wissa had been fit, Brentford may have won against Tottenham.
The 28-year-old attacker will be absent this weekend due to an injury, which Merson believes will prove decisive.
“I was very disappointed with Tottenham last week and they were also fortunate to go through to the next round of the Carabao Cup,” Merson told Sportskeeda.
“I really wanted Brentford to win tonight, but Yoane Wissa will be a huge loss for them. Brentford will suffer significantly as a result of his injury.
“Without Wissa on that team, I’d choose Tottenham to defeat Brentford. Bryan Mbeumo on his own will not be enough to defeat Spurs.”
It remains to be seen whether Tottenham can achieve a positive outcome here. The fans will undoubtedly anticipate a strong performance from the players, and they must step up and give a response.
Tottenham have been inconsistent this season, and Brentford will be hoping to take something from this game.
King speculates on the financial issues at play as Manchester City swoops to sign Tottenham’s diamond.
Bryan King believes Han Willhoft-King had a better offer from Manchester City than Tottenham
The former Tottenham Hotspur scout has questioned why the North London club did not work more to keep the 18-year-old.
It comes after Alan Nixon revealed on his Patreon page (8 September) that Willhoft-King was set to receive a scholarship at UCLA after leaving Tottenham, but instead chose to join City.
As John Wenham exclusively reported to Tottenham News on June 14, the midfielder had turned down a new contract offer from Spurs before his departure was confirmed (4 June).
“If the opportunity is there to work with the best, it makes sense,” Mr. King said.
“However, if he is good enough for Manchester City to sign him, why didn’t Tottenham do more to keep him?”
“It sounds like there was a better contract on the table here.”
Willhoft-King was never able to break into the first-team situation in North London.
However, he has yet to turn 19, so the midfielder has lots of time ahead of him. As a result, he may believe that joining City has put him in better company.
If he has any first-team appearances under Pep Guardiola and flourishes as the club desires, Ange Postecoglou may soon be kicking himself that Tottenham weren’t able to maintain him.
It’s unknown what Spurs and City offered Willhoft-King. However, it is reasonable to suppose that the City’s suggested offer was significantly more appealing.

Arsenal explained why their winning goal against Tottenham should not have stood
Arsenal hero believes Spurs defender Cristian Romero was fouled in the build-up to his decisive second-half header
Arsenal great Paul Merson has confessed that his former team’s winning goal against Tottenham probably should not have stood.
The title-chasing Gunners gained bragging rights in the north London derby once more on Sunday afternoon, despite missing a number of key players due to injury, recording their third consecutive away league victory over their fiercest rivals for the first time since 1988.
However, there were concerns about whether Gabriel fouled Romero with a shove in the back before scoring what proved to be the winning goal in N17, with Gunners veteran Merson admitting that he expected a free kick and criticising the Argentine’s defence.
“I’d be disappointed if I didn’t get a foul,” he admitted on Sky Sports. “I would be disappointed.” He is in the incorrect position, and his defense is completely flawed.
“He’s a centre-half, an international; even I know – and I don’t even play defense – that you have to be side-on. You must be able to view both the ball and your player.
