Class of 2026, 4-star SF, Maximo Adams, will make his college decision on Friday
Class of 2026 four-star small forward Maximo Adams is preparing to announce where he’ll play his college basketball this Friday, November 14, per ESPN’s Paul Biancardi. The 6-foot-7, 205-pound standout from Chatsworth, California, will choose from Kentucky, North Carolina, Michigan State, and Texas.
Adams has been a priority recruit for Mark Pope. Pope originally offered him a scholarship back in July 2023 during his time at BYU. It took some time, but Pope reissued the offer after taking over at Kentucky this past July. Adams then made an official visit to Lexington in September, where he spent time with the coaching staff and current Wildcats.
Basketball is a family affair for Adams. His older brother, Marcus Adams Jr., was a top-60 recruit in the 2023 class and briefly played under Pope during Pope’s stint at BYU. Marcus initially enrolled at Kansas before transferring to Gonzaga, then BYU, and eventually Cal State Northridge. He earned Second-Team All-Big West honors last season and has since transferred again, this time to Arizona State.

As the announcement approaches, Kentucky remains firmly in the conversation. Pope’s long-standing connection with the Adams family keeps the Wildcats in contention for one of the most skilled and adaptable forwards in the 2026 class.
That said, most of the recent chatter suggests North Carolina and Texas may have the inside track. Rivals’ Jamie Shaw recently projected that one of those two programs is most likely to land Adams, while noting that Michigan State might be the strongest challenger to disrupt that prediction.
