Alejo Veliz has had a tough few months after joining the team to gain experience, but Sevilla manager Quique Sanchez Flores has argued that the attacker hasn’t done enough in training to deserve starts.
Veliz’s loan transfer to Sevilla hasn’t gone as planned; since joining the La Liga team in January, the young player has only made three appearances as a substitute.
ElDesmarque (via Sport Witness) asserted last month that a power struggle within the Andalusian team is the reason the 20-year-old is being ignored.
It was claimed that although sporting director Victor Orta was keen on the Tottenham player, Sanchez Flores wanted the team to sign a more seasoned player.
Whatever the cause of his lack of playing time, Spurs will view his five-month stay in Spain as a waste of time, and some recent rumors suggest that the Lilywhites have already been discussing possible summer loan deals for the player (Fabrizio Romano).

The Sevilla manager has now stated that his selections are based only on what he has observed from different players during training.
The former Watford manager said to AS, “We’re very (focused) about giving continuity to what we see in training,” in response to a question regarding Veliz’s difficulties. We don’t (make decisions) every day. Throughout the week, we observe what catches our attention and provokes thought.
Alejo is in a difficult situation since, although having minutes, he is no longer as well-known. For the titles, people like Lamela, Lucien Agoume, and Dodi Lukebakio are the ones on the starting blocks.
“Even though we have Alejo, he is not in the first line of the future ownership. We make an effort to magnify his strengths and conceal his flaws. However, other football players provide us with a more favorable environment for our style of play.

Veliz would have benefited greatly from remaining at Tottenham and pursuing his training under Postecoglou.
The club will take additional care this summer to make sure they loan the striker to a team where the 20-year-old is assured minutes after making the grave mistake of sending him to Sevilla.
