According to Football Insider, Manchester United star Zidane Iqbal has agreed to terms with Dutch club FC Utrecht.
Terms for a permanent agreement have been negotiated with the Red Devils, and the finishing touches of a move are now ready to be applied, with final documentation being finalised.
Man United have given Iqbal, 20, permission to leave the club despite the fact that he signed a contract extension with the club last summer (2022).
The midfielder signed a three-year contract with an option for an additional year, but he is now expected to transfer to the Eredivisie on a permanent basis.
On Thursday (22 June), Iqbal tweeted an emotional farewell to his Instagram account, claiming that the time had come to embark on a new challenge.
He has appeared in the Champions League for United and was on the bench seven times in the Premier League last season.
The Iraq international appeared in 55 games for the club’s Under-18, Under-19, and Under-21 teams, scoring 11 goals and assisting on three occasions.
Iqbal can play in a variety of midfield positions, including holding midfielder, ‘number 10’, and on the sides.
He will leave Old Trafford this summer, along with Ethan Galbraith, Di’Shon Bernard, Eric Hanbury, Charlie Wellens, and Manny Norkett.
They were not on Man United’s retained list, which was released earlier this month (16 June).
Erik ten Hag‘s side is yet to sign a senior player in the summer window following the end of the 2022-23 season.
After finishing third last season, the Red Devils will return to the Champions League the following season.
