Man United takeover: Glazers ‘won’t sell’ because Sheikh Jassim’s failure to generate a ‘uproar’

The Glazers, Manchester United’s owners, have been questioned about their genuine intentions about a prospective sale.

Manchester United‘s owners, the Glazers, have no intention of selling the club outright, according to journalist and radio host Sam Matterface. The Red Devils’ takeover adventure continues, but Sheikh Jassim and Sir Jim Ratcliffe may both fail to achieve their ultimate aim.
Last November, the Glazers declared that they were open to additional investment and exploring options, including an outright sale. When bidding began, Qatari billionaire Sheikh Jassim and INEOS founder Ratcliffe immediately emerged as the frontrunners.

Sheikh Jassim made his sixth proposal for the Old Trafford club earlier this month in an attempt to complete a full purchase. However, there has been no formal announcement that a transaction is nearing completion.

On talkSPORT on Sunday, Matterface, ITV’s senior analyst for England matches, and former Arsenal winger Perry Groves explored the issue. Groves indicated that a swift conclusion would benefit all parties, particularly United supporters.
Manchester United fans would rather just sell the club and get it done,” he remarked. Whether it’s Sir Jim Ratcliffe or Sheikh Jassim, get it done.

“Just get it done, and we’ll be able to move forward.” The club is now in limbo. For the past seven months, this has been going on. Sheikh Jassim submitted five offers.”
Matterface, on the other hand, feels Groves’ last comment is a big hint that the Glazers aren’t interested in a full sale. “What does that tell you?” he answered. “I believe it tells you what I told you when it first happened: I don’t think they’ll sell it.”They never said that they intended to sell it. They did not put it up for sale; instead, they stated that they would be searching for strategic options for investment, including a full sale.

“So they opened the door for people to come in and say, ‘yeah, we’ll buy it, we’ll do this, we’ll do that, or we’ll give you some money or invest a certain proportion.'” But I believe what they’re attempting to do is bring in a large amount of income while retaining a percentage of the club.”

Groves feels that if the Glazers do not sell after the protracted acquisition process, there would be a “uproar” among United fans. “They’re just holding on and holding on and holding on for more money,” he stated.”Can you imagine the uproar if they don’t actually sell the club after going through this process?”
