According to Football Insider, Manchester City defender Aymeric Laporte has turned down a summer transfer to Tottenham.

The 29-year-old’s future at Etihad Stadium is in jeopardy following his minimal involvement in the 2022-23 season.
Football Insider reported earlier this month (9 June) that Laporte will be regarded surplus to requirements at Manchester City if they are able to sign a top-tier defender during the summer window.

According to a reliable source, Tottenham have begun to contact the Spain international regarding a possible move to the Londoners this summer.

However, Laporte is not interested, and Spurs have shifted their focus to other prospects.

Man City has signed the former Athletic Club defender until June 2025.

In the 2022-23 season, Laporte appeared in 24 games in all competitions, starting 20 of them.

Pep Guardiola‘s first-choice XI has included Ruben Dias, Nathan Ake, and Manuel Akanji, with John Stones playing in a holding midfield role.

Guardiola is expected to add a top-tier central defender to his squad this summer.

On June 9, Football Insider stated that Manchester City have held preliminary conversations with RB Leipzig about signing defender Josko Gvardiol.

This would push Laporte farther below in the Citizens’ pecking order.

During his career at the club, the defender, who is said to earn £120,000 per week, has won five Premier League crowns, four League Cups, two FA Cups, and a Champions League.

In 2018, he was rumored to have cost a club-record sum of £57 million.

In other news, Tottenham has been beaten by Chelsea in the race for a striker.
