Liverpool transfer news: The Reds have been linked with a $110 million move for a Real Madrid target, while ‘positive’ talks have taken place with the target’s father
Following back-to-back victories over Leeds and Nottingham Forest, Liverpool’s Champions League hopes are still hanging by a thread.
It would take a near-miracle for the club to break into the top four at this point, but with nine points separating Liverpool and Newcastle, it cannot be ruled out.
A lot has to go right for Liverpool between now and the end of the season, and whether or not the Reds qualify for the Champions League will determine the type of business the club can do in the summer.
Liverpool’s business will, of course, be influenced by how much money FSG gives Jürgen Klopp ahead of the summer transfer window.
Players such as Roberto Firmino, Naby Keta, and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will depart at the end of the season, freeing up both space and funds. However, given the magnitude of the overhaul Klopp must oversee this summer, a large sum of money is required to address the issues that plagued this season.
Expect Liverpool to be linked with everyone and everything in the coming months, even if it doesn’t necessarily need investment.
Every day, we will keep you up to date on the latest transfer rumours circulating around the Reds on Liverpool.com, along with our verdict. Here are the most recent rumors for today.
Chukwueze, Samuel (Villarreal)
During his time with The Yellow Submarine, the Nigerian winger has impressed many. In his fifth season with Villarreal’s first team, Chukwueze has 13 goals and 11 assists in all competitions.
Many on the continent, including Liverpool, have been impressed by the 23-year-old’s performances. According to Defensa Central, Liverpool has joined the race with Arsenal and Real Madrid to sign him.
The winger has a release clause of $110 million (£89 million/€100 million), and it’s highly unlikely that Liverpool will activate it, given that Jürgen Klopp has enough options in attack, even with Roberto Firmino departing at the end of the season.
(Bayern Munich) Ryan Gravenberch
Liverpool is preparing for the future without Jude Bellingham, having decided to withdraw from the race to sign the player due to the high cost of the deal, as well as the work that needs to be done on the squad in the meantime.
Ryan Gravenberch is one of those very real post-Bellingham options. The Dutchman’s move to Bayern Munich has gone sour; he arrived from Ajax last summer but has struggled to break into the first team.
According to The Athletic, Liverpool held talks with Gravenberch’s father earlier this month, and the talks were “positive.”
The issue, according to the report, is that Bayern Munich does not necessarily want to do business with Liverpool for Gravenberch, as the Bavarians still see him as a part of the club’s future for the time being.
