Liverpool’s performance has increased since Jurgen Klopp changed Alexander-Arnold’s position ahead of the draw with Arsenal. In addition to the England international’s performance, the Reds have gone unbeaten since the switch.

Alexander-Arnold, who normally plays right back, has been given more positional freedom in recent Liverpool games, drifting into midfield and attempting to get as much time on the ball as possible.

Liverpool moved a point behind Manchester United in the Premier League table with a 1-0 win over Brentford at Anfield on Saturday evening, and Alexander-Arnold had more touches and completed more passes than any other player on the pitch against Thomas Frank’s side.

Another impressive performance prompted Klopp to be asked about the possibility of Alexander-Arnold staying in the position, and while the Liverpool manager believes the new role suits the England international, he revealed that his summer recruitment will guide the decision.

“If it is long term, we will see; it just depends on the new players that we bring in,” he said after the game to Sky Sports.

“It suits him extremely well, and I think the opportunity he created for Darwin (Nunez) was special, and he was strong defensively, and he still has to adapt to his role in this formation.”

“We were a little passive in the last game, but Trent has played almost every minute in the last six games in an intense period with games every three days, and that is outstanding.”

According to the ECHO, Liverpool dropped their pursuit of Bellingham after the magnitude of their required summer midfield overhaul became clear.

For much of the season, the Reds had made Bellingham a top priority transfer target, with Klopp a long-time admirer of the 19-year-old’s talent. Borussia Dortmund, on the other hand, has charged more than £100 for the England international.

Klopp and the Reds’ recruitment team have determined that it is better to spread the money around on several signings rather than committing the majority to a single big-money arrival.

Liverpool’s list of potential targets is growing as work behind the scenes continues. Chelsea’s Mason Mount and Conor Gallagher are said to be interested, as are Brighton’s Alexis MacAllister and Moises Caicedo. Links have also emerged between the Reds and Sporting Lisbon’s Manuel Ugarte and Benfica’s Florentino Luis.
