On Saturday, Liverpool will say goodbye to four players, but none of them will play against Aston Villa
When Aston Villa visits Liverpool today, Jurgen Klopp will likely field the same lineup that defeated Leicester. Roberto Firmino is back in training but will most likely be benched from the start in his final appearance at Anfield. The Express Sport team previews the XI Klopp is likely to field against Unai Emery’s impressive Villa side.
Alisson is the goalkeeper.
Alisson is the only Liverpool player to have started every Premier League match this season. In an otherwise disappointing season, the Brazilian has arguably been one of the club’s best performers.
Defense: Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson Klopp has found a stable back four that he will likely stick with for the foreseeable future if they are fit and available. Alexander-Arnold is thriving in his new role, which allows him to drift inside.
He scored a spectacular goal at the King Power Stadium on Monday, giving him seven goals in his last eight games. With Ibrahima Konate, Virgil van Dijk looks much more like himself.
Andy Robertson will return to his usual position on the left side of defense.
Henderson, Fabinho, and Jones play in the midfield.
Curtis Jones has started the last nine league games, the longest streak of his career. He scored twice on Monday to demonstrate that he could be the goal-scoring midfielder Klopp has been looking for.
In the nine games Jones has started, Fabinho and Jordan Henderson have been the other two midfielders most of the time. It is no coincidence that Liverpool has hit a rich vein of form when Klopp has named a consistent team.
James Milner will almost certainly have to wait until the end of the season to make his final appearance in a Liverpool shirt. If the situation allows, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain could also bid farewell as a substitute, but Naby Keita will not be fit to play again before leaving.
Salah, Gakpo, and Jota lead the attack.
Klopp is likely to make one change in attack. Diogo Jota could replace Luis Diaz in the starting lineup.
Firmino was serenaded by fans on Monday, but in a must-win game, there will be no room for sentiment. As a substitute, he will get his chance to say goodbye.
