Tyler Morton, currently on loan at Blackburn, will miss the rest of the season due to a fractured foot, according to Rovers manager Jon Dahl Tomasson
The Reds youngster joined Ewood Park on a season-long loan at the start of the season and has made 40 Championship appearances.
After coming off the bench in Blackburn’s 1-1 draw with Coventry earlier in the week, he was named to the starting XI against Preston North End on Saturday.
A win would have put Rovers in the play-off spots, but Dominic Hyam’s 95th-minute own goal resulted in another 1-1 draw, dropping them to seventh place.
After the game, Tomasson’s team was dealt another blow when Morton confirmed he will not play for them again this season.
Liverpool and manager Jurgen Klopp will be concerned by the news, as his participation in next season’s pre-season appears to be in doubt.
Earlier this season, The Athletic’s James Pearce reported that Klopp was thinking about including Morton in his plans for the upcoming season.
Liverpool midfielder’s injury has been confirmed.
Former AC Milan forward Tomasson confirmed Morton’s injury ahead of Blackburn’s upcoming Lancashire derby against Burnley on Tuesday.
He also stated that the 20-year-old sustained the injury in the first half against PNE, but continued to play before being replaced in the 89th minute.
“He has a fracture on his foot,” he told the Lancashire Telegraph. He received it in the first half and played the entire second half. He’s an incredible young man.
“He couldn’t walk after that, so he’ll have surgery.” It’s disappointing because we’re in a tight spot.
“We are dissatisfied. That’s football; we can’t change it. He was in a lot of pain at halftime, but he played the second half, which shows the character of the fractured boy.”
However, the Dane’s assessment of Morton’s performance this season provided a ray of hope for Klopp and Liverpool.
“You can’t expect more from a young boy who gets a lot of touches on the ball, so it’s been a good loan for him and a good loan for Rovers.”
“Transfer shocker: Liverpool beats Real Madrid to sign £100m target, as confirmed by his agent after victory!”
Despite interest from Manchester City, Barcelona, and Real Madrid, Argentina’s World Cup winner Enzo Fernandez is prioritizing a move to Premier League juggernaut Liverpool, according to O Jogo
Benfica took a chance and achieved something that no one else could have done six months ago. They used the £18 million release clause in Enzo Fernandez’s River Plate contract to their advantage.
On Sunday night at Qatar’s Lusail Stadium, the 21-year-old playmaker smiled for photos while wearing a World Cup winner’s medal around his neck, the Young Player of the Tournament award in one hand, and the Jules Rimet in the other.
Meanwhile, his asking price has grown from £18 million to almost £100 million, with the Portuguese giants refusing to allow Enzo leave for less than his hefty release clause.
LIVERPOOL LEAD THE CHASE TO SIGN WORLD CUP WINNER ENZO FERNANDEZ FROM ARGENTINA.
Liverpool appears to be given ‘priority’ by Enzo.
Enzo has stated his intention to become the most expensive signing in the history of one of Europe’s most legendary football clubs. And, as his great performances in the Qatar World Cup demonstrated, he is not a man who succumbs to pressure.
Liverpool also has a solid working relationship with Benfica. Last August, they agreed to a £64 million deal for Darwin Nunez.
“He has a bright future,” Argentina captain Lionel Messi said of Fernandez, who started the final victory over France on Sunday. “Enzo is an exceptional genius.” He emanates charisma and makes spectacular passes. Spectacular.”
“The best player with whom I worked at Real Madridwas Zinedine Zidane.” Of course, I don’t want to make comparisons. But I’m referring to Enzo’s fleeting and amazing vision, which makes me think of Zidane.
“What exactly is Enzo’s age?” Is he 21?”That’s either a lie or a brilliant stroke of genius!”
