Liverpool are allegedly ‘confident’ of acquiring Chelsea midfielder Levi Colwill this summer, as the Reds prepare their opening bid for the England Under-21 international

Colwill had a breakout season in the Premier League last season, shining for Brighton, who want to keep the 20-year-old but have had a £30 million deal turned down.

Mauricio Pochettino, the new manager of Chelsea, is adamant that Colwill is part of his plans, with the Blues ready to give a new long-term contract, but Colwill wants assurances about game time before committing to staying at Stamford Bridge.

“I’ll talk to my family, talk to everyone I need to talk to, and then make a decision.” “I’ve got to play at the end of the day to hopefully get there [England senior team] and go to the next camp,” Colwill said after leading England Under 21s to a European Championship victory.

According to 90min, Colwill, whose current Chelsea contract expires in the summer of 2025, is ‘far from sure that his long-term future’ is at the club.

Liverpool think Colwill’s indecision will allow them to make a deal, with prior rumours saying the Reds were keen ‘even at a record price’.

football.london asserts Chelsea regards William Saliba as Colwill’s equal, which means they regard their academy graduate as an equal.

Liverpool are sure they can tempt Colwill away from Stamford Bridge,’ according to 90min, despite Chelsea’s insistence that he is not for sale and that they are’ready to make an offer’ for the centre-back.

Mauricio Pochettino said last week that he will meet with Colwill to discuss his plans.

“I need to get a feel for him,” Pochettino stated. I need to hear what he has to say. What he anticipates. And, of course, for him to pay attention to what I expect from him.”

If Liverpool fails to sign Colwill, they have other options at center-back, with Perr Schuurs reportedly one of their main targets.
