Liverpool are allegedly set to make an initial bid for Fluminense midfielder Andre Trindade
The Reds will shortly make a €25 million (£20 million) approach for the 22-year-old, according to Gazeta Esportiva, with the Brazilian swiftly emerging as a priority target for Liverpool this August.
While negotiations to capture Romeo Lavia from Southampton continue, it now appears that Andre might also be heading to Liverpool if the Reds can reach an agreement with Fluminense.
Andre, described as a ‘complete’ midfielder by Breaking The Lines, is an enticing choice for Liverpool as a replacement for Fabinho due to his ability to play as a defensive anchor as well as further up the pitch.
And, with Liverpool ready to make a bid for Andre, there’s a high probability that the Reds are ramping up their internal attempts to get the midfielder to the Premier League this month.
Indeed, interest in the Brazilian appears to have increased this week, and this latest update clearly suggests that Liverpool will soon make an official bid for the midfielder.
It would be fantastic business for Liverpool to sign both Andre and Lavia.
Signing two defensive-minded midfielders would be an odd move from Liverpool, but with no players capable of filling this role, signing both Andre and Lavia could be a prudent decision this summer.
While Lavia is arguably the more exciting prospect, Andre will bring competition and European experience to a generation of midfielders who are presently lacking such qualities following the departures of Fabinho and Jordan Henderson.
Furthermore, rivalry for one position between two young players could help Andre and Lavia realize their full potential, which could leave Liverpool with an excellent set of midfield choices.
