That appeared to be the end of the Liverpool midfield for another season, but whispers of Saudi Arabian interest in Fabinho and Henderson have thrown Jurgen Klopp’s plans out the window.

Fabinho’s departure is now said to be nearing completion, with transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano confirming Wednesday that the Brazilian has agreed to join Saudi club Al-Ittihad.

“Many things are moving around Liverpool in terms of [their] midfield,” Romano said on YouTube. “This is a watershed moment for Liverpool; it’s a revolution.”

“They signed Alexis MacAllister and Dominik Szoboszlai, but now the agreement between Fabinho and Al-Ittihad is done in terms of the player and is under discussion between Liverpool and Al-Ittihad.”

Liverpool are still very cautious on the process because they are waiting for official documents to check some details of the payment terms, the instalments.”

“However, the negotiations are well underway.” This is why Fabinho isn’t playing for Liverpool in Germany.”

Henderson’s future is less definite, according to reports that Al Ettifaq, who have drafted a £700,000-a-week agreement, are unwilling to pay a price to bring the England international to the Middle East.

Liverpool, according to Football Insider, ‘intend to follow the sale of Fabinho this week with that of skipper Jordan Henderson as negotiations proceeded in the last 24 hours.’

The two medicals are ‘imminent,’ according to the publication, after Henderson ‘agreed’ to join former teammate Steven Gerrard at Al Ettifaq and ‘Fabinho has been given the green light by the club to finalize the terms of a £40 million move to Al-Ittihad’.

Exits for both players are reportedly ‘far advanced and anticipated to go through,’ with Al Ettifaq expected to pay roughly £10 million for Henderson.

‘The Saudi club are hopeful a medical and the formalities of the deal will now be finalised soon, bringing an end to the England international’s glittering 12-year Anfield career,’ Football Insider adds.
