According to Football Insider, Liverpool have not given up hope of landing Borussia Dortmund prodigy Youssoufa Moukoko
The 18-year-old striker is desired by a number of prominent Premier League and European clubs, since his contract with the German club expires next summer.
This week, it was widely believed that Chelsea are the frontrunners to sign Moukoko, with a deal expected to be completed in January.
However, according to Football Insider, Liverpool are still interested in signing a player regarded as a “sensational talent” by Jurgen Klopp.
Talks have taken place with the players’ representatives, and the Merseysiders are set to make another push before the transfer market opens.
Man City’s recruitment squad is also keeping a close eye on the position of the forward, who is already a regular in Dortmund’s first team.
Dortmund expects to lose Moukoko as a move to a Premier League giant seems more likely.
The starlet’s agent has fueled rumors about a possible move in the coming months by declaring his client will be “interesting for every top club in the world,” while also dismissing reports of a contract deal with Dortmund.
Since making his debut as a 16-year-old in 2020, Moukoko has 11 goals and eight assists in 59 appearances.
He has six goals in just 766 Bundesliga minutes this season, earning him a call-up to Germany’s World Cup squad in Qatar.
The striker sensation came on as a one-minute substitute as Hansi Flick’s team was ousted in the group stage.
Moukoko’s pre-contract negotiations can begin on January 1st, six months before he becomes a free agent.
