Liverpool have been told they’ll have to pay £75m to sign ‘fantastic’ player who Steven Gerrard loves

Inter Milan has already informed Liverpool of the fee they must pay to recruit Nicolo Barella this summer.

As they attempt to strengthen their midfield, the Reds have been linked with a transfer for Barella. But nothing has come of it thus far.

However, according to 90min now, the Italian might be on the move shortly. Newcastle United are allegedly contemplating a £50 million deal to bring Barella to the North East. This is unlikely to be sufficient.

According to 90min, Inter had previously quoted Liverpool and PSG £75 million to sign its star player. Surprisingly, neither has taken them up on their offer.

However, convincing Inter to split ways with Barella may be the easiest part. The 26-year-old is said to be content at Milan and that only something spectacular’ might entice him to leave the Champions League finalists. Regardless, Newcastle are said to be eager to test the waters.

Newcastle’s interest in Barella has come as a complete surprise. Nonetheless, many sources indicate that the Magpies are eager to complete a deal for the Italian.

It’s a tremendous statement from Eddie Howe’s side in certain ways. Others find it a little naïve.

As 90min mentioned, it’s not as if Barella doesn’t have higher-level admirers. For years, top teams have been connected with attempting to lure him away from Inter. It never occurs.

Newcastle should not expect to waltz in, slam £50 million on the counter, and walk away with Barella.
