Liverpool has been urged to take advantage of Manchester United’s transfer embargo and recruit a cheap third midfielder.

Liverpool may be able to thank Manchester United for a transfer opportunity

Liverpool have been warned that signing Marcel Sabitzer, a former Manchester United loanee, is “almost too good to turn down” as Jrugen Klopp continues to restructure his midfield. The Reds have already signed Alexis MacAllister and Dominik Szoboszlai this month and are hoping to add a third midfielder before the window expires.

Sabitzer spent the second part of the season on loan at United because to Christian Eriksen’s injury, and the Austrian filled in admirably. Bayern Munich had an option to buy him permanently, but United revealed last week that both he and fellow loanee Wout Weghorst had returned to their respective clubs.

Thomas Tuchel has regarded Sabitzer surplus to needs at Bayern, and Bild claims that the 28-year-old has been told he can depart for as little as £12.8m this summer. Mason Mount appears to have diverted United’s focus, while Fiorentina’s Sofian Amrabat has been mooted as a potential second midfielder signing.

Former Liverpool striker Stan Collymore feels the Reds should take advantage of United’s refusal to re-sign Sabitzer by incorporating him into Klopp’s midfield revamp. After being designated as an area for improvement following a dismal campaign, there appears to be no slowing down in recruitment for that area.

“Marcel Sabitzer, who was only on loan from Bayern Munich, has now returned.” According to recent rumours, the Bavarians are willing to let the Austrian leave permanently for a cost of only €15 million (£12.5 million),” Collymore said in his CaughtOffside blog.

“If that’s true, I can’t believe United hasn’t already cut their hand off.” whether they don’t take Bayern Munich up on offer, I wonder whether Klopp will consider it. He’s demonstrated he can play in the Premier League, and that fee is almost too good to pass up, especially when you’re looking for senior international-level midfielders!”

However, Liverpool appear to have concentrated on Arsenal target Romeo Lavia as someone who can play a more defensive role than Mac Allister and Szoboszlai. Klopp’s team is apparently preparing an initial bid for Southampton’s starlet, despite the relegated club is demanding upwards of £40 million for the Belgian.

After spent nearly £100 million on two midfielders, Liverpool may choose for a less expensive option while still having Fabinho, Jordan Henderson, Curtis Jones, Thiago, and Harvey Elliot to depend on.

They might take advantage of their competitors’ choice not to sign Sabitzer on a permanent basis by bringing him to Anfield on a cheap deal.
