Things seen during Liverpool’s training session ahead of their Premier League match against Leeds United
Liverpool has posted photos from their most recent training session at the AXA Training Centre.
The Reds prepare to travel to Leeds United in the Premier League on Monday (20:00 BST) and will spend a significant amount of time at their Kirkby base preparing for the game.
After a hectic eight-day period in which they lost 4-1 to Manchester City before drawing 2-2 with Chelsea and Arsenal, Jurgen Klopp’s side’s chances of finishing in the top four now appear to be out of reach. With nine games remaining, they are currently in eighth place and 12 points outside of the Champions League places.
However, a place in the top six is still not guaranteed, and there is still much to play for, particularly against a Leeds side fighting relegation.
As things currently stand, Liverpool appear to be in for a major boost at Elland Road as Luis Diaz continues his comeback from injury. The winger has not played for Liverpool since sustaining a devastating knee injury in a 3-2 loss to Arsenal last October. After the recent draw with the Gunners, Klopp confirmed that Diaz was set to return to full sessions this week, after only being involved in part in recent weeks.
Liverpool have been cautious with the Colombia international, but a bench spot against the Whites appears to be on the cards.
Meanwhile, there is hope that Thiago Alcantara will be fit enough to start against Leeds after a good period of training. The Spain international came off the bench against Arsenal after a two-month hip injury. In the engine room, the recently turned 32-year-old made all the difference.
Thiago is regarded as the Reds’ best midfield option when available, and he participated in the AXA session.
