Liverpool are fans of Jarrad Branthwaite, according to Goal
The Everton defender is presently on loan at PSV, where he is performing admirably in the Eredivisie.
The 20-year-old defender joined Everton in January 2020 from Carlisle United, although he has yet to establish himself in the Premier League. It may change after this season in Holland.
So far, Branthwaite’s move to PSV has been a success, with the teenager establishing himself as a starter in Eindhoven as PSV fight for a Champions League spot next season.
The fact that Liverpool is interested in Branthwaite is intriguing. After all, Everton is one of their main opponents, and Branthwaite is one of their most potential young players.
Branthwaite is a tall, muscular, and technically adept centre-back who seems like he belongs in the Premier League these days.
Liverpool’s interest in Branthwaite is not surprising, given that they could do with a defensive refresh, and as a good, homegrown player, Branthwaite does tick a lot of boxes for the Reds.
Everton will almost certainly be hesitant to release one of their most promising young players, but the allure of Liverpool may be too strong to refuse, especially if Everton get relegated this season.
It is unusual to see two players switch between Everton and Liverpool. In fact, it hasn’t happened since Abel Xavier left Everton for Liverpool in the 2001/02 season, and you have to go back to the early 1990s to find a player who left Liverpool for Everton in the form of Peter Beardsley.
Overall, this is an intriguing transfer speculation, and while a deal may be difficult to complete, if Everton are relegated this season, the door may open for the Reds to swoop in and get one of their rivals’ most potential young players.
