According to a Daily Telegraph article, City are preparing to make a play for Tottenham‘s overlooked midfielder Harry Winks.

The 27-year-old is back in England after a loan spell with Sampdoria in Italy, and as Spurs try to unload some marginal players, Winks might be one of them.

Percy states that any agreement for Winks and the conversations are unrelated to a possible deal for James Maddison. The offensive midfielder is thought to be close to a transfer to North London, although the negotiations between Maddison and Winks are distinct.

A career comeback?
Winks has played 203 times for Spurs since coming through the club’s development and has 10 England caps to his record. Given his previous trend, he’s slowed dramatically, so a move elsewhere may be his best choice.
Winks has already demonstrated that he is a highly skilled midfielder who can be a vital player when on his game. If Maresca can bring him back to his best after a difficult few years, the Foxes might be in for a genuine treat.

He’s battled injuries, but he recovered with Sampdoria and started 19 consecutive Serie A games in the second part of the season.

With so many players leaving Leicester, fans will be relieved to hear that efforts are being made to bring in new players while the team pursues a deal for Winks.
