This summer, the youngster could leave Bayern Munich

Liverpool are reportedly interested in signing Bayern Munich midfielder Ryan Gravenberch this summer, with talks already underway.

Gravenberch is doing well at Bayern.

The 20-year-old has been a highly regarded prospect for some time, having burst onto the scene as a teenager at Ajax and appearing in 103 Eredivisie games. His performances in his homeland earned him a move to Bayern last summer, where big things are expected of him.

Gravenberch’s time in Germany has not gone as planned, with the midfielder struggling to find playing time under both Julian Nagelsmann and Thomas Tuchel. He had only started once in the Bundesliga this season, coming on as a substitute 16 times prior to Bayern’s match against Hoffenheim yesterday.

As a result, there is a chance that Bayern will let the Dutchman leave before he has even properly begun at the club, with the move simply not working out. With Liverpool desperate for midfield reinforcements, especially after pulling out of the race to sign Jude Bellingham, Gravenberch appears to be an option.

Could a youngster be a Liverpool option?

Liverpool’s “delegation,” according to Bild [via Sport Witness], has held talks with the youngster’s representatives about a possible summer move to the club. More talks are expected in the coming weeks, with the Reds seeing him as a strong option to come in and bolster the midfield.

Jurgen Klopp is said to be a big fan of Gravenberch and believes he is the type of player the club needs, though whether Bayern are willing to sell so soon remains to be seen.

Gravenberch, a former Ajax player with similar attributes to Bellingham, could be a great replacement for the Englishman if Liverpool can close a deal. At 6 feet 2, he has a strong physical frame, and his 25 goal contributions (12 goals and 13 assists) for Ajax demonstrate his box-to-box quality.

At 20, the 11-cap Netherlands international is still a work in progress, as his struggles at Bayern show, but if he can be one of several midfield signings at Liverpool this summer, along with a few more experienced players, he could be an exciting acquisition with a high ceiling in the coming years. Frank De Boer has previously described him as “fantastic,” and the Reds should seize the opportunity to sign him at the end of the season.
