Liverpool are allegedly interested in signing Villarreal forward Samuel Chukwueze
With a move for PSV attacker Cody Gakpo, the Reds appear to be coming in on their first acquisition of 2023. The Netherlands star was extensively linked with a move to Manchester United, but Liverpool have secured an agreement.
In what will be a record sale for PSV, the amount is likely to be between €40m and €50m. The 23-year-old was in Merseyside on Wednesday for the majority of his physical, and it appears that the club is considering another deal.
UPDATED: CHUKWUEZE NEXT?
According to one Spanish publication, Jurgen Klopp’s team has entered the hunt for Chukwueze, who may become one of Villarreal’s largest sales in history.
According to the article, the Reds are ‘attentive’ to Chukwueze’s progress, with the player potentially departing the club in 2023.
With Gakpo’s arrival, Klopp’s senior attacking options will expand to six, so a transfer for Chukwueze, who has been described as a ‘terrifying’ direct player and potential’superstar in the making’ by members of the media in recent seasons, may not be a prudent one at this juncture
Yes, he has the potential to be a future great, but Liverpool might use some help in other areas of the field after purchasing Gakpo, with midfield being a prime example.
Jude Bellingham appears to be a primary target, so focusing on the Borussia Dortmund center midfielder after Gakpo’s arrival may be a better bet than pursuing Chukwueze.
