Kris Boyd slaughtered ‘overweight’ as Rangers hero insulted by Aberdeen icon before on-pitch clash.

Ex-professionals Lewis and Boyd will face off in the Masters football event at the P+J Live in Aberdeen on Thursday, November 14

Joe Lewis killed ‘overweight’ Kris Boyd after making a sly dig at the Rangers legend.

Lewis, 37, formally retired last month after leaving Pittodrie in 2023, but he will compete in the Masters Football six-a-side event at P+J Live in Aberdeen on Thursday, November 14. Lewis will compete against former Dons stars Russell Anderson, Eoin Jess, Kevin McNaughton, Derek Young, Jonny Hayes, Gavin Rae, and Lee Miller, as well as Celtic, Dundee United, and Rangers veterans, the latter of which will include ex-striker Boyd.

Lewis and Boyd faced off during the latter’s second spell at Kilmarnock, which lasted from 2016 until 2019. They have since enjoyed a healthy rivalry in the punditry box when Aberdeen and Rangers have faced off in recent seasons, with Englishman Lewis poking fun at the Ibrox hero’s expense after Jimmy Thelin’s Reds won 2-1 against the Light Blues at Pittodrie last Wednesday to open up a nine-point lead over Philippe Clement’s troops in second place in the Premiership.

And the former goalkeeper has humorously criticized Boyd again ahead of the Masters showdown next week, noting that fitness was never the goal machine’s strong suit during his playing career. Speaking to The Press and Journal, he stated, “I was trying not to mention it (at Pittodrie)! Boydy was an excellent player.

“But Boydy was overweight when he played, and he’s only slightly more overweight now, so it won’t make a significant difference!” He will very certainly try to outscore me. He’d definitely love that, and I’ll do my best to keep him quiet.”
