According to reports, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has not ruled out replacing Mo Salah as his primary penalty taker following his latest miss from the spot

Salah has scored 13 Premier League goals in 29 matches this season, but the Egyptian and the Reds have not been on the same level as in previous seasons.

Salah has been the main penalty taker for Liverpool under Jurgen Klopp in recent seasons, missing only two penalties before this season.

But his penalty miss against Bournemouth last month was followed by another miss against Arsenal last weekend, as Liverpool drew 2-2.

Salah failed to hit the target on both occasions, and The Times now claims that Klopp will meet with the Egyptian about his role as penalty taker.

‘Klopp will speak to Salah about whether the Egyptian remains their penalty taker after he missed his second consecutive penalty last Sunday in the draw against Arsenal,’ according to The Times.

In the summer, Salah agreed to a new three-year contract worth around £350,000 per week, with Klopp relying on him in the short term.

However, according to El Mundo, Klopp sees Athletic Bilbao’s Nico Williams as a “medium-term replacement for Salah at Liverpool” as he plans for the future.

Klopp may have to compete with Wolves manager Julen Lopetegui and Aston Villa manager Unai Emery for Williams, who has five goals and four assists in 28 La Liga appearances this season.

Williams currently has a €50 million (£44 million) release clause, and El Mundo reports that ‘there is already a queue to pay it,’ and Aston Villa will try again over the summer after having an offer turned down in January.

Williams recently stated, “I am 20 years old and I still have no idea what I want to do.” I have people who provide excellent advice to me, and I am confident that everything will be fine.”

His brother, Inaki, who also plays for Bilbao, has previously praised his brother’s abilities, claiming that his sibling is “practically unstoppable” in one-on-one situations.

“Physically, I’m a tad superior, and even though I’m eight years older than him, I still give him cramps in the 100 meters,” Inaki said. In one-on-one combat, on the other hand, he’s nearly unstoppable.”
