Liverpool are more likely to sign Brighton midfielder Alexis MacAllister than his teammate Moises Caicedo this summer
According to The Athletic, who examined the Reds’ transfer targets ahead of the summer transfer window.
According to the report, the World Cup winner from Argentina is “near the top of Liverpool’s list of midfield targets.”
The Merseyside club are also interested in Seagulls teammate Caicedo, but it is said that getting him out of Brighton would be more difficult than getting Mac Allister out.
The Ecuadorian would be more expensive than the 24-year-old, so the latter is more likely to arrive at Anfield this summer.
Mac Allister is more likely to join Liverpool than Caicedo.
Back in October, during Liverpool’s 3-3 draw with Brighton, Mac Allister skipped past Luis Diaz, Thiago, Fabinho, and Harvey Elliott before being fouled by James Milner. This all occurred right in front of Jurgen Klopp on the touchline, so perhaps the German’s desire to sign the player began here.
Although Caicedo would be an excellent signing for the Reds, his fee is expected to be in the region of £70 million.
Arsenal and Chelsea are expected to make bids for the youngster at the end of the season, so a bidding war could drive up the price significantly.
Mac Allister, who is expected to cost around £60 million, is a more realistic option for Klopp.
However, his signature will not be easy to come by, with Manchester United hot on Liverpool’s tail for the 24-year-old.
