Ibrahima Konate will start in place of Joel Matip against Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield on Sunday
Liverpool have been in good form recently, and they will be looking to continue that when Tottenham Hotspur visit Anfield on Sunday evening. Spurs, on the other hand, are coming off a 2-2 draw against Manchester United and will be looking to pull off an upset after an impressive comeback against the Red Devils.
The Reds will be without Calvin Ramsay and Stefan Bajcetic for the rest of the season, as both have been ruled out. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Keita have returned to training. However, it remains to be seen whether Jurgen Klopp is willing to give them some game time.
Meanwhile, Roberto Firmino is still out with an injury and will return towards the end of the season. Ibrahima Konate did not play against West Ham United, but he is expected to return here. During his pre-match press conference, Klopp confirmed the same.
“Ibou will be back,” said the German tactician. Naby [Keita] will probably train today; I haven’t received the medical report yet. Ox [Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain] is working out. Nobody else has returned.”
“We have a couple of players out, everyone knows who they are, but on top of that, from the previous game… Diogo took a hard blow to the back but should be fine; we’ll see how that develops. Aside from that, we should be fine.”
Liverpool will almost certainly stick to their usual 4-3-3 formation, with Alisson Becker in goal. Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andrew Robertson will look to build on their recent success and exert influence in both phases of the game.
The full-back pairing will look to create scoring chances while also assisting the center-backs defensively. Meanwhile, Konate is expected to partner Virgil van Dijk at the back.
Fabinho will look to win the ball back and provide defensive cover for the central defenders in the midfield. Meanwhile, Thiago Alcantara and Curtis Jones will look to improve the side’s creativity and control. As a result, Jordan Henderson will be out again this weekend.
Diogo Jota will start on the left side of the front three, hoping to continue his recent scoring form. Mohamed Salah will continue to play on the right, with Cody Gakpo leading the Reds’ attack. As a result, Darwin Nunez will come off the bench against Tottenham on Sunday.
