Klopp is ‘open to a shocking U-turn,’ with Liverpool ‘eager’ to sign a £60 million Premier League player or a ‘amazing’ substitute.

Liverpool are reportedly “eager” to sign a new midfielder this month, with two targets chosen ahead of the summer’s pursuit of Jude Bellingham

Liverpool are rumored to be looking for new midfielders this month, as that position is clearly a weakness for them.

They are likely to wait until the summer to add to their squad, having already spent up to £44 million to sign Cody Gakpo from PSV Eindhoven.

Graeme Bailey, TEAMtalk’s handover expert, reports that they “can’t wait to get someone on board” this month.

They have obviously been linked with a number of midfielders, with Bailey specifically mentioning Sofyan Amrabat and Moises Caicedo as potential signings. Amrabat was mentioned as a possible signing after performing admirably for Morocco at the World Cup, but there hasn’t been much talk of a move to Liverpool in recent weeks.

Meanwhile, Caicedo made an immediate impact for Brighton, and the 21-year-old performed admirably for Ecuador at the World Cup.

Jurgen Klopp is a “big fan” of Amrabat, according to Bailey, but the Reds are also “interested” in Caicedo.

“There’s no denying Liverpool needs to understand their midfield, and they know it,” Bailey told TEAMtalk.

“They wanted to bring someone in this month, and Fiorentina’s Sofyan Amrabat is a player Klopp admires.” His performance in the World Cup final was outstanding, but that means his value is stable, and Fiorentina do not appear to be willing to enter into an optional loan deal, as they were last year.

“There is also Moises Caicedo, the Brighton star.” He is very interested in the Premier League, and Liverpool is one of his favorites.

“However, getting him in January will be extremely difficult.” Brighton is asking for at least £50 million, but I believe more than £60 million.”

Liverpool are interested in signing Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham this summer, but the fee is expected to be around €130 million. They will also compete with Manchester City and Real Madrid. Bailey adds that the Bellingham deal is “far from done.”

“When it comes to Liverpool and midfielders, the elephant in the room is obviously Jude Bellingham,” he added.

“We know they like it and want it, but we also know there’s a deal in the works.” Not at all!

“Although Anfield is confident of signing him, they are aware that Real Madrid and Manchester City are also interested in signing him.” It’s also not certain that he’ll leave [Dortmund] this year.”

The potential additions are expected to take the place of Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, whose contracts expire in 2023.

Due to injuries, both players have seen limited action for Liverpool recently.

However, the same report stated that Klopp is “open to a turnaround” in order to keep both players beyond this season.

“When it comes to the Liverpool midfield, a revolution could be on the way.” Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Keita are two players who are looking to leave the club right now. “Both will be out of contract on July 1,” Bailey added.

“It appears that they are both scheduled to leave, but I believe Klopp would be open to them staying now that they are both back.”

“Overall, Klopp has a lot of decisions to make, but so many big decisions.”
