As PSG press for a decision on his future this summer, the attacker has been linked with a stunning move to Anfield
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has denied reports of the club trying to recruit Kylian Mbappe, but quipped that he would be open to a “surprise” move from the club.
Mbappe’s future is unknown as PSG seeks to offload the Frenchman, with the Ligue 1 club adamant that they would not risk losing the 24-year-old for free next summer. The forward, who is out of contract in a year, has stated that he has no intention of signing a new contract.
A €300 million transfer to Al-Hilal has been suggested, although Real Madrid remain the frontrunners to sign Mbappe.
According to the Mirror, Liverpool are in talks with PSG over a shock loan move for Mbappe, which would avoid a disastrous season in Paris and allow him to complete his dream transfer to Real Madrid at the conclusion of the season.
In response to those rumors, Klopp emphasized that the club has no plans to bring Mbappe to Anfield, unless those discussions are being kept even from him.
“We laugh about it,” Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp told Sky Germany.
“I think he’s a really good player, but the financial situation doesn’t work for us.” I don’t want to ruin the plot right now, but as far as I know, there isn’t anything to it.
“However, it’s possible that someone else from the club is planning something to surprise me, but that hasn’t happened in the eight years I’ve been here.” That would be the first occasion.”
Jurgen Klopp says that a deal for Kylian Mbappe is difficult unless Liverpool’surprise’ him.
