Jurgen Klopp, the manager of Liverpool, has confirmed that Ibrahima Konate will be available for Sunday’s Premier League match against Tottenham Hotspur
The Reds defender was not named to the matchday squad for the 2-1 loss to West Ham in midweek.
Klopp stated after the game at the London Stadium that Konate was not injured and simply needed a rest.
Since the end of March, the 23-year-old had started nine games for Liverpool.
Klopp has now told the Reds media team that Konate is fine ahead of Sunday’s game against Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield.
The Liverpool manager also provided an update on Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, and Diogo Jota’s fitness.
“Ibou will be back,” Klopp promised. “I believe Naby will train today – I haven’t received the medical report yet, but I believe so.”
“Ox is undergoing training. Nobody else has returned.
“We have a couple of players out, everyone knows who they are, but on top of that, from the previous game…
“Diogo took a bad knock in the back but should be fine; we’ll see how that develops.”
“Aside from that, we should be fine.”
Liverpool has received good news.
Liverpool has struggled for much of the season, but they are finally finding their form.
The Reds have won their last three Premier League games and are currently second in the table.
Liverpool face Tottenham Hotspur, who will be buoyed by their 2-2 draw with Manchester United in midweek.
They trailed 2-0 at halftime but rallied thanks to goals from Son Heung-min and Pedro Porro.
With Tottenham having such a dangerous attack, Konate’s return to fitness and rest is a huge boost for Liverpool.
The 23-year-old joined Liverpool in 2021 to much fanfare and has since gone from strength to strength.
Trent Alexander-Arnold stated in 2022 that Konate had the opportunity to be a “once-in-a-generation” player.
The France international is undoubtedly on track to become a superstar, as predicted by his teammate.
