Joy then changed to potential confusion for Celtic fans when it was announced that Kyogo Furuhashi would be joining Rennes immediately after the Parkhead full-time whistle.
Despite starting on Wednesday night, Sky Sports reports that the Japan international is in advanced negotiations to join the French team for a £10 million fee, and the Hoops are nearing an £8 million deal to sign Jota.
But Jota, the Portuguese forward who first moved to Al-Ittihad in the summer of 2023, isn’t a center-forward, and Celtic is reportedly considering a number nine to replace Kyogo.
