Celtic defeated BSC Young Boys 1-0 at Parkhead on Wednesday night to secure their spot in the Champions League play-off round this season.
The Hoops won all three points in Glasgow thanks to a late own goal from Loris Benito, who shoved the ball into his own net after Adam Idah’s first attempt was blocked.
Following their elimination in the group stage of the 2024–25 European competition, they have now only lost one of their seven games.
Joy then changed to potential confusion for Celtic fans when it was announced that Kyogo Furuhashi would be joining Rennes immediately after the Parkhead full-time whistle.
Despite starting on Wednesday night, Sky Sports reports that the Japan international is in advanced negotiations to join the French team for a £10 million fee, and the Hoops are nearing an £8 million deal to sign Jota.
But Jota, the Portuguese forward who first moved to Al-Ittihad in the summer of 2023, isn’t a center-forward, and Celtic is reportedly considering a number nine to replace Kyogo.
