Former Scotland attacker James McFadden feels this might be Celtic’s Champions League breakthrough season
McFadden spoke openly about Celtic’s past troubles before the game, but voiced optimism that the squad can turn around a disastrous decade in European play.
He stated: (BBC Sportsound) “You must have a good group to compete. This is a team built to deal with a season.
“This is a squad capable of competing in any game, league, cup, or Champions League.
“Celtic are significantly better prepared this season. On paper, this team is capable of meeting the demands of big game after big game.
McFadden is correct, Celtic have never been better prepared.
Tonight, the Hoops have the opportunity to provide a solid performance and achieve a key win to begin their Champions League campaign on the right foot.
With a successful summer transfer window, the Hoops appear stronger than previous season, which is a positive indication for Brendan Rodgers.
SFA confirms referee and VAR personnel for Celtic vs. Hearts showdown.
The SFA has revealed the refereeing appointments for Celtic’s match against Hearts on Saturday. The Jambos travel over the M8 to face the Scottish Champions, hoping to turn around their terrible season so far
Colin Steven has been named as the game’s referee, with Frank Connor and Calum Spence assisting him. Meanwhile, at Clydesdale House, Alan Muir is on VAR, with Graham McNeillie helping.
Steven has only taken command of one Celtic match before, in the COVID season, when Neil Lennon’s club defeated Hamilton at an empty Celtic Park. The whistleblower is excited about the opportunity to take leadership of Scotland’s best stadium.
The appointments come only days after Willie Collum, Head of Refereeing, released a report analysing VAR-related decisions. One wrong VAR ruling involves Celtic’s first game of the season, when Kyogo was sent flying by Kilmarnock goalkeeper Robby McCrorie. On VAR, Greg Aitken claimed that the ex-Rangers keeper was simply making himself huge, but replays proved otherwise, and the review determined Celtic should have had a penalty kick.
Arne Slot’s probable Liverpool starting lineup for the upcoming campaign Liverpool has been linked to a deal for Feyenoord Rotterdam manager Arne Slot. The 45-year-old Dutchman is doing an excellent job of leading the Eredivisie
The reigning champions are currently behind PSV Eindhoven, but that does not diminish Slot’s efforts.
This has to demonstrate that our top priorities should be to sign a right winger and a starting center midfielder. As we seen against Everton, Curtis Jones was wildly inaccurate. It’s easy to forget that Fabio Carvalho, on loan from Liverpool, is playing excellently for Hull City this season and might return to have a significant influence for the Reds.
If Slot were to take over at Liverpool, his task would be to improve upon the team’s current strengths while implementing his subtle tactical adjustments and new player additions to boost output. His technical acumen and capacity to inspire and bring out the best in his players may be pivotal in determining Liverpool’s destiny. His excellent foundation was set by departing manager Jurgen Klopp.
Not Slot or Amorim, but Jamie Carragher knows the ideal candidate for the Liverpool position.
According to Jamie Carragher, Liverpool shouldn’t rule out selecting Thomas Tuchel to be their next manager.
During his brief tenure as Chelsea’s manager, the MNF analyst emphasized how competitive the German made the Stamford Bridge-based team.
“He will have attended three of the previous six Champions League finals if he advances to the championship game. Now, I realize that things haven’t gone according to plan for him at Bayern Munich, but the work he did at Chelsea in an attempt to challenge Klopp and Pep’s Man City
“I hope that those who have visited Liverpool—many of them have been there previously and are familiar with the team—never forget how important the Liverpool fan base is to the team.
One could argue that this applies to all fans. He can go up and battle against Pep or whoever the manager of Man United is, because he is our man. We don’t merely have a coach there who serves as a backstage yes guy.
But it looks like the Merseysiders are getting closer to Feyenoord’s Arne Slot to unseat Jurgen Klopp at the end of the campaign.
Although an excellent manager, Tuchel is not the ideal match for Liverpool.
It’s important to recognize his recent success in Europe, which will undoubtedly appeal to our supporters, but it’s unlikely that he will leave Liverpool in a particularly positive position after his departure.
We should also note that everyone involved in the departure is likely to cry after an eventual fallout with one or more of the club’s decision-makers.
A person who is more receptive to working within the established framework will probably endure over time.
