Jaland Lowe Throws Down L’s — And the Gauntlet — as Kentucky’s New PG1 Embraces the Rivalry Early 😤💙

The Bluegrass rivalry just found a new villain and he’s wearing Kentucky blue.

Less than two weeks after stepping foot on campus, Jaland Lowe is already making his presence felt in Big Blue Nation. The former Pitt point guard and new Kentucky Wildcat lit up social media over the weekend after throwing down the infamous “L’s down” during an Instagram Live session all while repping a Kentucky shirt.

It wasn’t just a moment for the cameras  it was a statement.
The rivalry is personal.

From ACC Battles to SEC Fire

Lowe didn’t come to Lexington as a blank slate. Having spent two seasons in the ACC with Pitt, the rising junior already had four games of experience against the Louisville Cardinals and the battle scars to prove it.

As a freshman, Lowe had modest outings in two wins over the Kenny Payne-led Cards. But it was in his sophomore season that he took things to another level, dropping 24 points and six assists in a tight four-point loss, then returning two months later with a 16-point, 10-rebound, five-assist performance in the rematch.

The results may not have gone his way, but the fire was there and that fire now belongs to Big Blue Nation.

Fortnite, Denzel, and Fueling the Fire

During his Instagram Live, Lowe was joined by fellow transfer Denzel Aberdeen, a Florida Gators guard who also made the move to Kentucky this offseason. The two were casually gaming on Fortnite when Lowe  fully in BBN mode threw up the L’s down like a seasoned Wildcat. Fans watching lit up the comments, and the clip quickly began circulating on social media.

This wasn’t a PR stunt. It was organic, raw, and full of confidence. The kind of moment that makes a fanbase fall in love with a player before he ever steps onto the Rupp Arena floor.

A Perfect Fit for the Rivalry

Kentucky vs. Louisville isn’t just another game it’s one of the most intense rivalries in college basketball. And Lowe? He’s already embraced it like someone who grew up in Lexington.

With Mark Pope at the helm and a roster full of high-energy, high-IQ transfers, Kentucky’s culture is clearly contagious. The competitive fire, the pride, the tradition  it’s something Lowe has absorbed almost instantly.

And the best part? He has unfinished business with Louisville.

Bring on December

When Kentucky and Louisville meet again this upcoming season, it won’t just be another chapter in a historic rivalry. It’ll be Jaland Lowe’s first time facing the Cards as a Wildcat  and you better believe he’s ready.

He’s worn the jersey.
He’s thrown the L’s down.
Now, he gets to make them pay.

Big Blue Nation, your new point guard has arrived  and he’s already speaking your language. 💙🔥
