Nyoni, a highly regarded midfielder who turned 16 in June and is an England U16 international, moved from Leicester City to Crystal Palace last month. He and another newcomer, center back Amara Nallo, made their debuts in the 6-1 Premier League Cup loss to Crystal Palace last weekend.

Ranel Young, who was playing his first game of the season, Kareem Ahmed, Afolami Onanuga, and Wellity Lucky all scored twice, completing his treble against Southend.

Bridge-Wilkinson told liverpoolfc.com, “It was a really pleasing performance and we played really well.” It was nice to see the hard work we had been doing on the training field really pay off as we scored some excellent goals.

“It was great to have Ranel back, and Trey got his first goals in a red shirt. He will take a lot from that. Also, congratulations to Southend United. Even though they got a high score, they didn’t give up. They kept working hard, and we appreciate them coming to Kirkby.”
