The Dutchman was competent, if not spectacular, for Liverpool against City, but he did everything that was asked of him against a fantastic team that Guardiola seemed to assemble to mimic Liverpool’s gung-ho approach.

Man City played much more directly than usual, and Pep Guardiola appeared to be fairly blunt with Virgil van Dijk, who reportedly earns £240,000 per week, after the game, though it’s unclear what he was talking about.

The pair were videotaped chatting after the game, and while most of their conversation is inaudible, Guardiola appeared to be asking for something, to which van Dijk replied, “I’ll speak to him!”

The title race is still ongoing, but it is now in the hands of Guardiola and his players, which is disastrous for Jurgen Klopp and his team. If they win their remaining games, they will be crowned champions.

If they make a mistake, Liverpool will have a window of opportunity, but the Reds will need to be flawless for the rest of the season, which is a tall order but not impossible.
