Tottenham Hotspur appear to be stepping up their attempts to support Ange Postecoglou in the transfer market
Spurs made an encouraging start to the summer with the additions of Guglielmo Vicario, James Maddison, and Manor Solomon.
Tottenham have had a quiet few weeks afterwards, as they have yet to sign a new centre-back to replace Postecoglou.
Of course, the North Londoners have been prominently associated with a number of transfers and appear to have made a breakthrough in their pursuit of Micky van de Ven.
Spurs are moving in on the signing of Van de Ven, according to Fabrizio Romano, who claims the Dutchman has already agreed to the move.
Tottenham might sign Edmond Tapsoba, Ashley Phillips, and Alejo Veliz soon after, according to rumors.
Tottenham might make three more significant acquisitions.
Tottenham are in severe need of defensive reinforcements, and with the club closing in on Van de Ven, they aren’t letting up on their pursuit of Tapsoba either.
According to Sport1 writer Patrick Berger, Postecoglou’s men are still trying to sign Tapsoba.
Spurs are reported to offer approximately £38.7 million for the 24-year-old, with Bayer Leverkusen demanding a greater amount.
The Burkina Faso international has shone for Leverkusen in the Bundesliga, and a signing with Spurs would be a coup.
Ashley Phillips, a highly rated Blackburn Rovers starlet, is also likely to join the club this week.
According to The Athletic, Spurs plan to finalize a deal for Phillips this weekend, after the teenager completed his medical two weeks ago.
Finally, Tottenham is interested in signing Alejo Veliz, another excellent prospect.
The 19-year-old attacker has impressed for Rosario Central in Argentina and is another highly rated talent.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the Argentine forward has already decided to move to North London, with Spurs and Rosario presently negotiating a deal.
Of course, Phillips and Veliz are likely to be viewed as future Tottenham players. Spurs, on the other hand, appear to be stepping up their efforts to bolster Postecoglou’s team.
Adding another centre-back to join Van de Ven would be a great boost for Postecoglou, especially one of Tapsoba’s caliber.
Spurs will have a busy few weeks ahead as they still have a lot to do before the transfer season closes. However, the last few days have provided some hope to fans ahead of the new campaign.
