On Wednesday night, Liverpool defeated West Ham in the Premier League for the third time in a row

Ian Wright has waxed lyrical about Liverpool starlet Curtis Jones yet again, while describing new teammate Cody Gakpo as a ‘elite’ operator.

It’s been a frustrating season both at Anfield and elsewhere. With six games remaining, the Reds are still in contention for European qualification after three straight victories.

With one eye on the summer transfer window, Jurgen Klopp and his recruitment team intend to overhaul the midfield options available to them in the future, but Jones has bolstered his own case for a long-term role following extended game-time in recent weeks.

Meanwhile, Gakpo of the Netherlands has continued to shine since joining the club in January. He scored the Reds’ sixth goal in a 2-1 win over West Ham at the London Stadium on Wednesday night, and that was more than enough to catch Match of the Day pundit Wright’s attention.

Curtis Jones,” Wright said on his Ringer Podcast Network show. He’s on his way, ladies and gentlemen!

“Like he said when the Hulk was killed, Thanos is on his way.” Curtis Jones will be there, but Cody Gakpo…

“I saw him in some tight spots [against West Ham] with his one-touch play and everything.” He’s an absolute elite player with his link-up play.”
