Gabby Agbonlahor has once again incurred Jurgen Klopp’s wrath by claiming the Reds manager could be fired
Klopp was in the stands serving his touchline ban as Liverpool drew late against Aston Villa.
Despite a strong late run of results, it now appears unlikely that they will finish in the top four.
And Agbonlahor believes Klopp will struggle if the current trend continues into next year.
Klopp to be fired?
After the game, Agbonlahor, who has a history with Klopp, made a bold claim about the German coach on TalkSPORT.
After going on a mini rant about the Reds’ season, Agbonlahor said Klopp needed to watch himself.
“For the standards they’ve established over the last 3-4 years. I believe this is a truly terrible season. “They’re 19 points behind Manchester City, who they came so close to beating last year,” Agbonlahor said.
“Take a look at their season. Liverpool has had a difficult season. If they have a bad start to the season next year, I wouldn’t be surprised if Jurgen Klopp is fired.”
Klopp is likely to receive funds to spend at Liverpool this summer. However, this will add to the pressure to succeed.
Klopp isn’t going anywhere.
Agbonlahor appears to be trying to stir the pot a little here. It would take a truly disastrous season for Liverpool to part ways with Klopp.
He has so much credit, and while this season hasn’t been great, it’s also not been a disaster.
Liverpool will be fine under Klopp’s leadership. New players will help, and it would not be surprising to see them seriously challenging City next season.
