Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has admitted that he is unsure of his next club, but he can see himself returning to Anfield as a rival to Liverpool

Liverpool recently confirmed that Oxlade-Chamberlain will be released at the end of the season when his contract expires. Roberto Firmino, James Milner, and Naby Keita are all in the same boat.

After Liverpool’s final home game of the season, a 1-1 draw against Aston Villa on Saturday, all four of them had the opportunity to say their final goodbyes to the Anfield crowd.

Aston Villa have been named as one of Oxlade-Chamberlain’s potential next suitors. However, the 29-year-old will have many other connections.

Indeed, Oxlade-Chamberlain has confirmed that his future is still up in the air, though he has hinted that he would prefer to stay in the Premier League.

“I don’t know what happens next,” he told the official website of Liverpool. “It’ll be a busy summer chasing him [his boy] down and then seeing what happens next.”

“But, yeah, I’m sure I’ll be back here at some point in the tough away dressing room, against these fans – I’ve done it before.” I’ll do my best, and if I score or do anything, I won’t be celebrating, I promise you, because I have so much respect for everything that’s happened to me here.

“But I told Virgil [van Dijk] that I might actually be able to dribble past him for the first time ever!”

Oxlade-Chamberlain reflects on his time at Liverpool

“I think journey is the right way to put it,” Oxlade-Chamberlain said of his six seasons with Liverpool. It’s been a long journey, but I’ve enjoyed every minute of it.

“Of course, there have been some difficult times, but there have also been some absolutely incredible memories and times.” It’s a little surreal right now, and it hasn’t quite hit home.

“It’s a nice way to wrap things up.” “The fans are amazing as always, and I’ll definitely miss that.”

Oxlade-Chamberlain joined Liverpool from Arsenal in 2017 and made an impression in his first season on Merseyside, making 42 appearances.

However, it was cut short by a serious injury, and other physical issues have plagued him in recent seasons.

Despite this, he has played more than 100 Premier League games for Liverpool, where he has won five trophies. As a result, Jurgen Klopp still thinks highly of him.

But Oxlade-Chamberlain is ready for a new challenge this summer. Only time will tell where he will end up.

Meanwhile, Milner appears to be on his way to Brighton. Firmino and Keita’s futures, like Oxlade-Chamberlain’s, will require some deciphering.
