Diaz has been sidelined since Liverpool’s 3-2 loss to Arsenal in September, but the 25-year-old appeared ready to return during the club’s mid-season tour of Dubai.

After recovering from a knee injury, the 25-year-old was back in training and might have played against Lyon last Sunday, according to Goal.com.

But Diaz suffered a severe setback in training and is now expected to be out until March, which Jurgen Klopp described as ‘a big bash in the face’.

Now, Tsimikas has spoken ahead of Liverpool’s Carabao Cup match against Manchester City tomorrow night, and he has said that hearing the news about Diaz devastated him.

“It’s really horrible luck for Luis, and I’m very sorry for him,” Tsimikas told the Athletic.

“Fortunately, he is both mentally and physically powerful. I wish him a rapid recovery and promise that each and every one of us will be there for him every step of the way. We’ll be ready for him.”

Diaz’s injury is a tough pill for Klopp to take, especially because Diogo Jota is still working his way back to full health.

The winger has been a star player at Anfield since coming from Porto for £37 million in January, and Liverpool have missed him greatly since Sadio Mane’s departure.

The Reds gained vital playing time during their tour of Dubai, losing 3-1 to Lyon before smashing AC Milan 4-1 a few days later.

In their first competitive game in almost a month, Klopp’s team will face a severe test tomorrow night.

According to Sky Sports reporter Florian Plettenberg, Liverpool midfielder Naby Keita is on the verge of quitting the Premier League club this summer

THE DETAILS: FALLING OUT OF FAVOR

The Guinea international’s contract at Anfield is set to expire at the end of the season, and he has not been given new terms, leaving his future uncertain.

According to Sky Sports reporter Florian Plettenberg, Liverpool midfielder Naby Keita is on the verge of quitting the Premier League club this summer.

Jurgen Klopp has given the 27-year-old just two league starts this season, demonstrating how far down the manager’ pecking order he is in comparison to his teammates.

The Reds star was allegedly in talks to join Galatasaray, and while that transfer appears to be off the table, a permanent exit is still expected in the coming months.

Plettenberg of Sky Germany stated on Twitter that Keita will leave Liverpool at the end of the 2022/23 season:

“News #Keita: The 27-year-old is set to leave LFC as a free agent this summer!” At this point, contract renewal is improbable. Several clubs are interested in signing him. He, however, will not join Galatasaray. It is possible that he will return to [Germany]. In the last four games, he has been a regular starter.”

THE VERDICT: IT’S TIME TO GET RID OF IT.

Keita has undoubtedly shown flashes of brilliance throughout his time on Merseyside, but Liverpool are likely aware that now is the time to say goodbye.

This season, the Nike-sponsored athlete has played just 441 minutes of football across all competitions, averaging a top-flight match rating of just 6.15 when granted playing time (WhoScored).

Klopp has been connected with the likes of Jude Bellingham and Matheus Nunes for a midfield makeover this summer, and Keita is undoubtedly one of those on the chopping block, having missed approximately 470 days due to injury or illness since joining the Reds.
