Former Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure believes two ex-Liverpool forwards are now among the best in the world at their positions

Speaking to ESPN, Toure, who is now an academy coach at Tottenham Hotspur, named Raheem Sterling, Sadio Mane, and former Manchester City teammate Leroy Sane as the best three left wingers in the world:

“Three of the best left wingers?” Okay, Leroy [Sane], Raheem Sterling, and Sadio Mane if you go left.” Toure stated.

Toure’s choices have surprised fans, given Sterling and Mane’s struggles since their high-profile moves to Chelsea and Bayern Munich respectively during the summer transfer window.

Sadio Mane surpassed Bayern’s expectations.
Mane got off to a fast start in Munich, scoring three goals in his first three Bundesliga games as Bayern raced to yet another domestic title.

However, the Senegalese forward’s progress has slowed since then, with the 30-year-old failing to score for the Bundesliga club since October.

According to reports from the German capital, Bayern Munich has been let down by the return of the former Liverpool favorite.

Kerry Hau, a Sport1 journalist, claimed Bayern’s staff expected more from Mane, who is ‘losing too many one-on-one duels’ while also lacking the’speed and explosiveness’ that made him one of the world’s best during his time in the club.

Mikel Arteta of Arsenal is a “huge fan” of Sterling.
Raheem Sterling has also struggled for form since joining Chelsea in the summer, scoring only four times since his arrival at Stamford Bridge.

Injuries and a change of manager have pushed the 28-year-old down the pecking order at Chelsea, with reports linking Premier League leaders Arsenal with a move for the English winger.

According to 90min, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is a “huge fan” of Sterling and is interested in signing him in preparation for Arsenal’s expected participation in the UEFA Champions League next season.
