The Premier League club is willing to pay the transfer fee to bring the midfielder to England

Is Sofyan Amrabat truly so talented?
The midfielder has been at Fiorentina for three seasons after first catching the eye with Hellas Verona in the same league. Since then time, he has appeared in 83 Serie A games for the La Viola.

In 2022/23, he played 29 league games as well as impressing in their Europa Conference League campaign, demonstrating his ability on the big stage. That’s because, as compared to others in his position in the Men’s ‘Top Five’ major leagues, he ranks quite high. For example, his progressive pass rate of 7.93 per 90 places him in the top 8% of the category, and his pass completion rate of 88.8% places him in the 95th percentile.

It demonstrates that, despite attempting to play risky and incisive passes, he seldom makes mistakes with the ball – the figures even put him on a level with Liverpool’s own pass-master, Thiago Alcantara, who ranks slightly better for development but slightly worse for accuracy.

The player now has suitors from other leagues, according to a report from Firenzeviola.it via Sport Witness. Both Liverpool and Newcastle appear to be interested in the midfielder, with both teams “willing to pay” Fiorentina’s asking price to ensure Amrabat ends up in the Premier League.

They look to be the only two clubs willing to pay the minimum fee to persuade the Serie A club to sell the 26-year-old.

What is the market worth of Amrabat?
Fiorentina paid roughly 19.5 million Euros to get Amrabat to Italy, and they’ll want to get even more for him in the next transaction. There is no mention of a transfer fee here, so it is unclear how much Liverpool are willing to pay for the midfielder, although Transfermarkt estimates his value to be at 30 million Euros (or £26 million). While it is more than the Serie A club spent, it is still a relatively low-cost contract for the player.

When you consider what has been stated about him in the game, that amount as a potential cost appears to be cheap. Football journalist Josh Bunting, for example, described the player as “outstanding” during Fiorentina’s Europa Conference League encounter against West Ham, noting that he “ran the game” for the Italian club, while his performances at the World Cup garnered widespread praise.
