According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool are not in talks to sign Cody Gakpo
Last month, fellow transfer guru Dean Jones told GiveMeSport that the Reds had been studying the PSV forward’very closely’ ahead of a possible move.
Jones stated that any chase will be influenced by how their roster forms up ahead of the season’s restart, and with Luis Diaz out for another three months, it may drive Jurgen Klopp to act.
Manchester United have also been widely connected with the Dutchman, and Romano provided some insight into Liverpool’s thinking while addressing the 23-year-future old’s on The United Stand YouTube channel.
“There is competition since there are clubs informed,” he continued, “but honestly, on all the speculations I heard like ‘Liverpool in discussions for Gakpo,’ from what I’m told, there are no conversations between Liverpool and Gakpo at the moment.”
Given that Klopp is now without Diaz and Diogo Jota, he may need to bring in reinforcements this winter.
However, considering FSG’s readiness to sell the club, one has to ask if this will have an impact on their level of investment in the team.
Gakpo, on the other hand, would be a dynamic threat in attack, having been directly involved in 30 goals in 24 appearances for his club this season.
He also scored three times for the Netherlands at the World Cup, demonstrating his ability to play as a No. 9.
Romano has already stated that he possesses’something special,’ therefore it will be intriguing to see if the 14-cap international is included in Liverpool’s transfer plans in the coming weeks.
