Chelsea may not sign Manul Ugarte, but they may pursue one of Liverpool’s top summer transfer targets

Over the weekend, the Blues appeared to have completed a deal to sign Ugarte. As previously reported, the Uruguayan was on the Reds’ radar heading into the summer. However, after putting together a massive financial package, PSG appears to have won the race.

Chelsea are now expected to make a bid for another Liverpool target, Moises Caicedo, according to The Guardian.

Chelsea will make a high bid for Moises Caicedo.
According to the Guardian, the Blues are expected to press on with their pursuit of the Brighton star. Several clubs, including Liverpool and Arsenal, are known admirers of the Ecuadorian star.

But, with Ugarte now on his way to PSG, it appears Chelsea will step up their efforts to sign Caicedo.

Caicedo is expected to fetch at least £70 million from Brighton. They turned down a huge offer from Arsenal in January, but are now expected to sell the South American.

As previously reported, Liverpool is also close to signing Caicedo’s teammate Alexis Mac Allister. The Argentine midfielder is expected to join Liverpool in the coming weeks.

Caicedo was always going to be a bonus, in RTK’s opinion.
Given that we are close to completing a deal for Mac Allister, bringing in Caicedo was always going to be an added bonus, especially with so much interest from elsewhere.

Caicedo would be fantastic in this Liverpool team. He has everything a modern midfielder requires, and he appears to tick the boxes of what Klopp has required in recent seasons.

Obviously, it appears that we will have to make do with just one Brighton star. Caicedo will almost certainly play for Chelsea if he moves there.

Hopefully, Mac Allister does well on Merseyside and it won’t be too much of a problem.
