According to Football Insider, Liverpool have made a shortlist of five midfield targets after withdrawing from the race for Jude Bellingham
The Reds have long admired the 19-year-old Borussia Dortmund midfielder, but he was deemed too expensive for their summer budget, so they have turned their attention to other midfielders.
Mason Mount, Conor Gallagher, Joao Palhinha, Nicolo Barella, and Alexis Mac Allister are believed to be the five names on Liverpool’s shopping list this summer.
Brighton’s Moises Caicedo is also admired by the Liverpool recruitment team, but he is also wanted by Arsenal and Chelsea, and his price tag is expected to be high after the Seagulls rejected a £70 million bid for him in January.
Following the departure of Bellingham, Mac Allister has emerged as Liverpool’s new first-choice target, with the Merseyside club viewing him as a slightly cheaper option.
According to Football Insider sources, Brighton could accept £60 million for Liverpool and Manchester United target Alexis MacAllister this summer.
Mac Allister, 24, has scored 10 goals in all competitions for Brighton this season.
Liverpool are also interested in Mount, whose contract negotiations at Chelsea have stalled with only one year left on his contract.
Gallagher and Mount could both move to Liverpool, while Fulham’s Palhinha provides a more defensive option for Jurgen Klopp and the Liverpool recruitment team.
The final name on the list is Barella, who has five goals and seven assists for Inter Milan this season.
Liverpool scouts have been watching the 26-year-old Italian, who is expected to push for a move away from Inter if the club fails to qualify for the Champions League this season.
