Erik ten Hag disagrees with the Man Utd board over the signing of Harry Kane as the budget is set

Harry Kane

Harry Kane, the star player for Tottenham, had caught Erik ten Hag’s attention during the summer transfer window, but not everyone at Manchester United shared his enthusiasm.

Manchester United decided against making a summer transfer for Harry Kane because of their conflicting opinions on the attacker.

As Erik ten Hag looks to bolster his team with a new striker, Kane, 29, has been strongly linked with a move to Old Trafford. United’s first objective in the summer transfer window is to sign a forward, and Kane is at the top of their list.

After Cristiano Ronaldo left the club in December, United only had one senior striker with established credentials, and this month, Wout Weghorst returned to Burnley after his loan agreement expired. Despite Anthony Martial being the lone center attacker for the Red Devils and Marcus Rashford being favored out wide, he has suffered with injuries in 2022–2023.

Kane was the front-row replacement that Ten Hag desired, but certain United management figures are reportedly hesitant to sign England’s all-time greatest scorer. Despite the fact that Kane turns 30 the next month and is approaching the final year of his deal, it will still cost a lot of money to sign him.

Despite Tottenham not making the Champions League next season, Daniel Levy does not want to trade Kane and is aiming to sign him to a new deal. Spurs actually finished seventh in 2022–2023 and didn’t even make it into the Europa League or Europa Conference League.

However, Kane was a bright spot for Tottenham during a dismal season as he scored a stunning 30 Premier League goals, finishing second only to Erling Haaland for the Golden Boot. Kane has also been linked with Real Madrid, and given Levy does not want to sell to a domestic competitor, a transfer to Los Blancos appears to be the most likely conclusion at this time.

For United, acquiring Kane would almost exhaust their whole summer transfer budget. Tottenham wants more than £100 million for its star, while Ten Hag has about £120 million to invest on new players. United is turned off by Spurs’ demand, especially in light of his advanced age and current contractual predicament.

United may decide to search elsewhere for options as a result of this. Atlanta forward Rasmus Hojlund is one among them. He has become a possible target after scoring 10 goals in 34 games during his first Italian season.

The 20-year-old attacker is wanted by a number of Premier League clubs as well as other teams around Europe, so United isn’t the only team with an interest in him.

In March, Hojlund made his international debut for Denmark and scored a hat-trick, making a reputation for himself. Hojlund said earlier this week that he is flattered by United’s interest in him as a transfer target, but he remained tight-lipped on his future as the Red Devils pursue his signature.

It is a very prestigious club, so if they are reportedly interested in me, I must have done something good, he told Tipsbladet. We must wait and see what occurs. As you can see and hear, I think quite a few attackers might see a lot of change this summer because many teams are looking for a no. There will undoubtedly be some sort of event, and then we’ll have to see if I’m a part of it.I’m thrilled to be playing for Atlanta, and we’ve qualified for Europe. We must now wait and see since I have discovered myself in a pretty nice spot here.
