The Blue Devils managed to pull off a hard-fought victory in a challenging away game at Wake Forest.
The Duke Blue Devils traveled to Winston-Salem on Saturday, January 25th, to face off against the Wake Forest Demon Deacons in a highly challenging environment. Despite the tough setting, Duke managed to secure a thrilling win.
Freshman sensation Cooper Flagg stole the show, delivering an impressive 24 points, 7 rebounds, and 6 assists. His outstanding performance was instrumental in Duke’s victory over Wake Forest.
Other key contributors to the win included Kon Knueppel, who tallied 15 points, 7 rebounds, and 6 assists, and Mason Gillis, who added 11 points and 6 rebounds. Their combined efforts helped the Blue Devils overcome the Demon Deacons.
The game was not without its challenges, however. Duke struggled significantly after halftime, missing their first 13 shots and going 1-for-19 over a stretch. This slump allowed Wake Forest to mount a comeback, eventually taking the lead.
Down 45-39 with approximately 9 minutes remaining, Duke responded with a crucial run, regaining the lead behind Flagg’s leadership. The Blue Devils went on to win the game 63-56, surviving a tough second half to remain perfect in ACC play.
Duke will now face a quick turnaround, hosting NC State on Monday, January 27th, at 8:30 PM in Cameron Indoor Stadium. The game will be televised on ESPN.
