Duke Blue Devils Announce Brotherhood Matchups for 2025-26 Season — Former Players Return to Cameron Indoor! 🔵🏀
The Duke Blue Devils are gearing up for another exciting season under head coach Jon Scheyer, and they just made an announcement that’s sure to warm the hearts of Blue Devil Nation.
On Monday, Duke revealed a thrilling addition to their 2025–26 non-conference schedule: a “Brotherhood Run” of games featuring matchups against Howard University and Niagara University both programs led by former Duke stars.
“This season we’ll be playing Howard and Niagara for our MTE exception here in Cameron Indoor Stadium,” Coach Scheyer said. “Kenny Blakeney and Greg Paulus have done amazing jobs… It will be a great opportunity to honor each of them and bring them back home.”
A Reunion of Blue Devils — As Opponents
The three-game slate part of Duke’s Multi-Team Event (MTE) will bring two familiar faces back to Cameron Indoor Stadium:
- Kenny Blakeney, who suited up for the Blue Devils from 1991 to 1995, now the head coach of Howard.
- Greg Paulus, Duke’s point guard from 2005 to 2009, currently in charge at Niagara.
“Brotherhood Run –> regular-season edition otw,” posted Duke Men’s Basketball on social media. “Got Howard (Kenny Blakeney – Duke ’95) & Niagara (HC Greg Paulus – Duke ’09) heading to Cameron!”
Mark Your Calendars: November 21–23
The schedule is set:

Scheyer’s Vision for Legacy and Growth
Scheyer, now entering his fourth season as head coach, continues to emphasize the importance of family, tradition, and honoring the past. After leading the Blue Devils to a 35-4 record last year aided by No. 1 NBA Draft prospect Cooper Flagg he’s now looking to bridge generations of Duke greats in a new way.
“It will also be a great opportunity to honor each of them and bring them back home to Cameron Indoor Stadium,” Scheyer said. “Really excited and can’t wait.”
Why This Matters
Beyond the Xs and Os, the Brotherhood Run is a celebration of Duke’s rich basketball lineage. It’s more than just wins it’s about legacy, respect, and the enduring bond between players and the program that shaped them.
Fans can expect not only competitive matchups but also emotional reunions, standing ovations, and perhaps even a few surprises as Duke welcomes home its own.
