Duke basketball center Maliq Brown might miss the remainder of the regular season.

Though there are still many unanswered questions about when star center Maliq Brown will be able to return, the Duke basketball team has gotten good news on his injury status.

On Thursday afternoon, Jon Scheyer met with the media to provide an update on Brown’s condition.

“We received some excellent news. With a dislocated shoulder, there is nothing strange that you are not expecting to observe. “We’re hopeful that we can get him back this season,” Scheyer stated.

“The most difficult thing is that a lot of it is related to his stability, which is currently causing him pain. So we’ll see how much time that takes.

Brown dislocated his shoulder while deflecting a pass late in the first half of Duke’s victory over Virginia on Monday. He went straight to the bench and later returned to the sideline in a sling.

The Syracuse transfer has been critical to the Blue Devil defense’s success this season, which now ranks fourth in KenPom’s adjusted defensive efficiency.

“Is it a few weeks? Is there more? He’ll be sidelined for at least the next week. I’d estimate a few weeks, but Maliq will do all he can to get back on the court.”

“We’re happy with the fact that we didn’t see anything crazy in there, just what you would normally see from a dislocated shoulder,” according to Scheyer. “He’ll go into rehab with our medical staff, and we’ll get him back as quickly as possible, while also being very careful not to hurry him. We need him back completely healthy.”

According to Scheyer’s comments, Maliq Brown might miss the rest of the regular season but return for the playoffs.

Brown is presently averaging 2.5 points, 4.1 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 1.4 steals per game, despite missing four games due to a toe ailment. He has participated in six games since returning from his lengthy hiatus.

No. 3 Duke (23-3, 15-1 ACC) will play a non-conference game against Illinois (17-10, 9-8 Big Ten) on Saturday night at Madison Square Garden (8:00 p.m. ET, FOX) before returning to league action on Tuesday, February 25 against Miami (6-20, 2-13 ACC).

The Blue Devils have five regular-season games remaining, including their clash against the Illini.
