Due to a broken finger, Jaland Lowe missed much of last season’s action.

Having him fully healthy could be a major factor in taking this team to the next level

The Kentucky Wildcats are nearly set for the 2025–26 season, with a strong core of returners, two top-tier recruits, and a host of transfers. Head coach Mark Pope and his staff have every reason to be optimistic about the team’s upside.

One standout newcomer is Pittsburgh transfer Jaland Lowe. A Third-Team All-ACC selection last season, Lowe arrives in Lexington ready to elevate his game alongside a roster loaded with future NBA prospects. His clean bill of health heading into the year should also be a game-changer.

Lowe’s father, Marland, recently appeared on WLAP’s Sunday Morning Sports Talk and revealed that Jaland played much of last season with a broken ring finger on his left hand. The injury, suffered in a preseason scrimmage against Cincinnati, required a splint and affected his shooting. During that stretch, Marland even reached out to former Wildcat De’Aaron Fox for advice on managing the injury and improving despite the setback.

That interaction helped plant the seed for Jaland’s eventual commitment to Kentucky. Now, with a full offseason to get acclimated and finally healthy, Lowe is poised to make a major leap.

If he does, Big Blue Nation could be in for something special.
