On the Rise: Drake Powell Dominates NBA Draft Combine with Jaw-Dropping Numbers
North Carolina’s Drake Powell has officially arrived on the national stage and NBA scouts are taking notice.
At this year’s NBA Draft Combine, Powell turned heads and silenced doubters with one of the most explosive athletic performances of the week. Measuring in at 6’5¼” and 200.4 lbs with an eye-popping 7-foot wingspan, Powell showcased elite physical tools that few prospects can match.
But it was his vertical leap that truly stole the show.
Powell recorded a 43” max vertical, ranking first among all participants an elite number that speaks to his high-flying potential and dynamic athleticism. He also posted a 37½” standing vertical (2nd overall), proving he doesn’t need a running start to elevate above the rim.
His elite agility and speed were also on full display:
- Three-Quarter Court Sprint: 3.07 seconds (4th)
- Shuttle Run: 2.79 seconds (7th)
- Pro Lane Drill: 10.71 seconds (6th)
Simply put: Powell didn’t just test well he dominated.
Coming off a strong season at North Carolina, Powell has steadily climbed up draft boards, but his Combine performance may have just launched him into a different conversation altogether. He’s not just a solid prospect anymore he’s now viewed as one of the most athletically gifted wings in the draft class.
With his relentless motor, defensive upside, and now-confirmed elite athleticism, Drake Powell is officially on the rise. Don’t be surprised if his name is called much earlier than expected come draft night.
The Drake Era is coming.
